Located on a sparkling bay where the wild waters of the Swan River run into the Flathead Lake, Bigfork is a picturesque and unique village filled with world-class art galleries, fine restaurants, a famous, 5-star theater and unique shops most of which are open year-round.

Start your day early, walking the Swan River Nature Trail to the dam and enjoy the wild river, and you may even get a glimpse of osprey, geese, blue herons and more.

After working up an appetite, wander into the quaint village where espresso and homemade cinnamon rolls on the river or coffee and quiche on the bay await you for breakfast. Strolling through the village, you will find everything from rare books to cigars, fine antiques, gourmet kitchen supplies, toys, homemade huckleberry preserves, exceptional art in all media, custom-made jewelry, clothing boutiques, home decorating and everything in between. Bigfork has a home-town atmosphere, where visiting with shop-keepers and artists might well be the highlight of your day.

Soon, it will be time for lunch. You can stop for the best burger in town, a deli sandwich or pasta and a salad. Top it all off with some of our world-famous sweet Flathead cherries, sold right from the orchards at roadside stands throughout the valley. Sitting outside is optional for most restaurants and a real pleasure in the summer.

Continue wandering through town to the old steel bridge over the Swan River to relax at Sliter Park, taking in the view of the river and the historic brick power house while the kids have their own fun playing on the playground. In the evening, you won’t want to miss a Start your evening with dinner at one of our famous restaurants serving gourmet entrees then attend a Broadway Play performed by Bigfork Summer Playhouse at the Bigfork Center for the Performing Arts. After the play, enjoy a glass of wine overlooking the beautiful bay while watching the sunset.

In a few short blocks, a full day can be spent wandering and enjoying this truly charming village by the bay!
